The Puslinch Optimist Club held its annual Appreciation Dinner for war veterans living in the township on October 25 2011.

Veterans attending this year’s dinner were: Back row, Walter Morton, Don Bruce, David Crow, Doug Gilmour, Allison Riddell and Robert Williams. Front Row, Rose McCarthy, Frank Conroy, Jack Bishop and Bob Schock.

Outgoing President Bob Jefferson awarded the Optimist of the Year Award to Optimist Neil Smith for his behind the scenes support at all of the club meetings and events.  Neil and wife Judy also run the monthly Euchres. Congratulations Neil!!!

The new Optimist Club of Puslinch executive for the 2011/2012 year was inducted at the September dinner meeting.

Left to right are Treasurer Frank Steblej, Secretary Carl Gorman, Directors Jim Knapton, Harry Janssen, and Don McKay, President Elect Ken Roth, Director Robert McFarlane, President Bill Dobbie, Past President Bob Jefferson and Zone Lieutenant Governor Don McConnel. Absent was Director Owen Shewfelt.

Santa came to Puslinch on Sunday Nov 28. A light covering of snow and a temperature just above freezing made for ideal conditions.

Veteran Stan Struthers lays the Canada wreath at the annual Remembrance Day Service held at the Puslinch Community Centre.

At the September Dinner Meeting, Outgoing President Don Crow presented an “Optimist of the Decade” award to Bill Roncken in appreciation for his dedication and hard work on the food trailer and for his and Anne’s work on the club euchres. Sadly for the Club and the residents of Puslinch, Bill and Anne have moved to the Midland area. We wish them well.
