The Puslinch Optimist Club held their annual Oratorical Contest at its monthly dinner meeting on March 27th.
The Contest was well represented by five students from Aberfoyle Public School. The Optimist members and the participant’s parents enjoyed listening to the contestants speak on the subject “How Optimism Helps Me to Overcome Obstacles”
Winners of the Contest were Madison Heller ,first and Noah Coasta second; they now move on to compete at the Zone level on April 16th in Oakville.
We wish them both Good Luck.
The Optimist Club want to thank the speakers  for their interest and participation and the parents for their encouragement and enthusiasm.
Special thanks to our judges Joan Law, Jeff Smith and Pat Ganning. We also thank  Denise Williams for spearheading this at the school level and teacher Graham Fiddes for his support at the school.
The Optimist Club reminds everyone that we hold this contest every year and it is open to all students under the age of 18.
All speakers recieve a cash prize just for paticipating with higher amounts going to the top three.
We hope that students continue to take an interest and support this program.

The Puslinch Optimist Club held its annual Appreciation Dinner for war veterans living in the township on October 25 2011.

Veterans attending this year’s dinner were: Back row, Walter Morton, Don Bruce, David Crow, Doug Gilmour, Allison Riddell and Robert Williams. Front Row, Rose McCarthy, Frank Conroy, Jack Bishop and Bob Schock.

Outgoing President Bob Jefferson awarded the Optimist of the Year Award to Optimist Neil Smith for his behind the scenes support at all of the club meetings and events.  Neil and wife Judy also run the monthly Euchres. Congratulations Neil!!!

The new Optimist Club of Puslinch executive for the 2011/2012 year was inducted at the September dinner meeting.

Santa came to Puslinch on Sunday Nov 28. A light covering of snow and a temperature just above freezing made for ideal conditions.
